The aim of this book is to provide students of engineering mechanics with detailed solutions of a number of selected engineering mechanics problems. It was written on the demand of the students in our courses who try to understand given solutions from their books or to solve problems from scratch.
Often solutions in text books cannot be reproduced due to minor mistakes or lack of mathematical knowledge. Here we walk the reader step by step through the solutions given in all details. We thereby are trying to address students with different educational background and bridge the gap between undergraduate studies, advanced courses on mechanics and practical engineering problems. It is an easy read with plenty of illustrations which brings the student forward in applying theory to problems. This is the fourth volume of ‘Another Book on Engineering Mechanics’ covering bending and stress of elastic beams and deflection curve determination.
